Katia was born and raised in Tijuana, Baja California, México. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from San Diego State University (SDSU) with a degree in Television, Film, and New Media with an emphasis in Production.
Through out her studies, she specialized in production design; Katia has designed over 20 short films for SDSU, USC, and AFI, as well as a special project for the NAVY’s SPAWAR division. In 2016, she was awarded by the San Diego Film Consortium for best production design for her film Among Thieves, as well as Excellence in Production Design for the undergraduate division at SDSU.
Her skill set ranges from production design, set design, set construction, set decoration, set dressing and, most recently, make up artistry. With knowledge in software like Vectorworks, SketchUp, Rhino, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, etc.
Always looking for opportunities to expand her skill set, Katia attended Bellus Academy, where she received her certification as a make-up artist.
She is now a Production Design graduate of the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, holding an MFA in Production Design (class of 2018), in which her thesis film TREE #3 has been nominated for the 39th College Television Awards (Student Emmys) for best Comedy.
Expanding her opportunities, Katia has been selected as one of the 16 “pre-approved” Assistant Art Directors by the ADG. She continues to follow her passion for film, as a researcher for the new Apple TV show For All Mankind,
